Lao PRD boasts beautiful scenic countryside and is renowned for producing rice and eating insects. Insect expert Shinjiro Saeki, also known as the Mushi Sommelier (Insect Sommelier), enjoys eating insects. In addition, as the founder of the Oishii Konchu Seikatsu (Tasty Insect Life) project, he is employing his knowledge to create a nutritional enhancement approach for Lao PDR through insect consumption.

Mr. Erjo Coscolluela, a native of the Philippines, was the managing director of the Japan Chapter of the ASEAN Youth Organization. Coffee is widely cultivated and produced in Africa, which is considered to be the birthplace of coffee, and in Central and South America such as Brazil. However, the production volume is increasing in Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Lao PDR, and Myanmar, and the quality is also increasing. We interviewed Mr. Yamamoto, who is in charge of production areas for Umi No Mukou Coffee, which handles coffee from more than 30 countries, including the ASEAN region.
